Exercise has
always lately been easy for me, but I haven't had success losing weight. Until now. I am finally moving the scale. Guess what it is? Moving faster, for longer every day. (Well 5 days a week.) I walked/ran 100 miles in 12 days. That is so close to 10 miles a day. That has been the turning point. Now I am constantly trying to see how far, how long, and how fast I can go. My legs and arms are screaming at the end of my first 60-80 minute work out- every day. And Every day, I know that I will go a second time for another 60 min.
It's hard work. But you know what's harder? Carrying 30-40 extra pounds and knowing I am that much closer to diabetes. So I'm learning to enjoy one hard thing, to avoid dealing with another hard thing.
What are you doing to reach your goals? How are you avoiding diabetes, heart disease and other weight related illnesses?
Diabetes also runs in my family, but I feel that my habits of exercise have kept it from me so far. Exercise has SO many benefits - even if you are fit and fat like me, it helps with sleep, digestion, mental health, heart and circulation, strength, cancer prevention, and many more things!
ReplyDeleteFor my 40th birthday I got high blood pressure! YAY me! I have been in process of loosing weight since Jeffy's birth last year. It's slower this time, I think because my thyroid is now low (thanks kid!) But, I ride a stationary bike 30 mins, 6 days a week. It helps my legs to not ache at night. I have been wanting to add in some yoga or something as well to strengthen my muscles.
ReplyDeleteWhat a birthday present! Yoga is great for strength and flexibility. As we age, we lose flexibility so it it really a great thing to pick up. I don't find that I lose any weight with yoga, but I feel really good when I do it and I know I get stronger. Let me know how it goes. I might get back on a yoga kick!
